Special Interview postponed.
New Date TBA.
Regular session to resume.
Please join us for a special practice.
Michael from Culture Trip want to write an essay about Kayak Polo and NYKP and I would like to invite everybody especially our regulars to join today’s practice. The more the merrier. Lots of photo ops!
Join us for a drills and scrimmage session at our summer home on the Hudson River. Based on who shows up, we will probably do a combination of drills and some play. If you are NOT an NYKP regular or otherwise experienced player, please communicate your background to the session host(s) beforehand, as this venue can be quite challenging for novices.
About the game: http://www.nykayakpolo.org/the-game/
This session is not intended for people new to kayaking (in which case please check out our intro sessions), but if you have experience in kayaks with spray skirts your are welcome to come and tag along.
We still want to main a healthy ratio between people with less and more experience. Admission is at the discretion of Session Host(s)’.
We are located in the middle of the boathouse.
Club & Facility Cost: Two free trial sessions are available for newcomers; Pay as you go $20/Session; Unlimited Membership: $150/Summer, $200/Winter, $250/Annual.
(ACA insurance mandatory: $5/event or waived with current ACA membership. NYKP offers discounts through the ACA Paddle America Club program)
More info: http://www.nykayakpolo.org/membership/
ACA Waivers: every calendar year, all participants must sign a new ACA waiver (paper or online). See Insurance – Paddle Clubs of America section of ACA site,
What to bring: swimsuit, rash guard, towel/shower stuff.
The boat house is a busy, shared space with our fellow communities. To be fair to everybody we strongly recommend the following NYKP boathouse rules:
1. No bikes or hazardous items inside the boathouse;
2. No storage items beyond rack boundaries;
3. Dry your PFD/SKIRTS outside before putting back in storage (but don’t forget);
4. Squeegee water around racks into drain;
5. Bring any complaint(s) to the attention of board members.
Enjoy Paddling and See You On the Pitch Soon!
