About

New York Kayak Polo is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to developing and promoting the sport of kayak polo in the New York City area. Everybody is welcome to come and learn — your first session is free!

Who we are

We are a community of paddlers of all ages, abilities, and experience levels who share a love of kayak polo. We run introductory, new-player, and regular sessions year-round — outdoors on the Hudson River in the summer and in an indoor pool in the winter — and our members compete in tournaments across North America and beyond.

How the club works

New York Kayak Polo is run by its members, for its members. As a nonprofit, we have no paid staff: everything from coaching and equipment maintenance to scheduling and event organizing is done by volunteers. Membership dues and donations cover our costs — pool and water access, boats and equipment, insurance, and travel support so that players of all budgets can take part.

Members elect a Leadership Committee each year to handle the club’s day-to-day operations and governance. Members can vote in club elections, run for leadership positions, and help shape the direction of the club.

We’ll be adding more about our history and mission here soon.
